My second time attempting Shou!!!!
I like this one much better than the last one but I still see glitches. Oh, wells.
The bottome right hand corner I fudged a little bit because of the rose that's originally there but that I didn't want to put in. Plus, no background. It's complicated as it is.
And his face... is unsatisfactory. At first, it was "Nao, what are you doing cosplaying Shou?" Then it was "Miyavi, what are you doing cosplaying Shou?" And then, "Tora! Not you, too!" Finally, it's "Who ARE you?!?!?!?!?!"
Oh, wells. At least his body came more or less the same. It being my first time not doing a face-only, I don't know if I did well or not.
And, no. I didn't mess up and give him four fingers. That's how it looks like. I counted and got confused and looked real hard so... I don't know where his other finger is...><

Reference picture (I know, it looks nothing alike! @.@):

(*Note: Sorry, I forgot to add it before ><;)

I used a .5mm mechanical pencil, two staples black gel pens, and a 2B pencil. :D

*Note: I accidently clicked on print submit and didn't know how to get rid of it so I just deleted and reuploaded my image. Sorry ><

kukukuku:icongrin--plz:
Thanks! bubububububuhuhhuhuhuhuhu
I actually find that I LIKE working with mixed mediums. It gives a very different feel from all my other stuff!
:iconchifuni:
I think you did really well! I'm going to imitate my teacher when I say "try for more texture and values" when you draw. :)

Can't wait to see more.
:iconcucumberpickles:
Ah!!! My teacher used to say that to me, too!
Thank you so much!
:iconchifuni:
xD I'm sure with practice you'll be great in no time! If you want, I could show you mine sometime. I need critiques xD Except I"m not done...yet. xD
:iconcucumberpickles:
I just saw your Uruha artwork. I'm so embarassed now >.< I can never do any coloring.
:iconchifuni:
Oh nonono~ I hate my Uruha. xD The only part I like is the clothes...Ugh. By the time I got to the hair, I was like "Oh, forget it!"

GUh. xD I'm alllmoooooost done with Reita. D:
:iconcucumberpickles:
That's how I usually am, too!
I'm really looking forward to how your Reita will look like!

It's probably just the left eye (his right) that makes it look a little un-Shou-like, but the rest seems pretty right-on. What really gets me is that you used gel pens for all this... so much black! @w@;; I don't know how you feel about using a pen/brush and ink, but that might be better for this sort of thing (and it's really fun!). Although I really like how you got the ink parts to blend with the graphite. *_*b

Ahaha, sorry, art class has put me in critique-mode, but I think this is an excellent rendering. =w=b Of course, I don't know what it looks like in real life--like what scanning/photographing might have done to the black parts--but considering you have so much DARK DARK black, you might try adding a little contrast on his skin? Mostly just on his arm and neck, and just a little. The reference picture doesn't show much in that way, I know, but in the end, what looks best is best, regardless of what it's "supposed" to look like. XD AHAHA I hope I don't sound like a douchebag; I like this picture a lot~ But lol alice nine.'s photos don't typically have that much depth, which doesn't always look that good in traditional media. It's ok for your rendering to look better than the reference picture. =w=b

Ah, no! I really appreciate your time to critique! While doing this, I actually really wanted to use a pen/brush and ink but since I had no direct access... My hand cramped alot and I actually regreted using pen.
And I realize what you mean with the contrast. It does look a bit... off. I'll have to look at that again.

Thank you so much for the critique!
